Databricks Introduces AI/BI for AI-powered Business Intelligence

Databricks, a company specializing in data and AI solutions, today introduced Databricks AI/BI. This new business intelligence (BI) product includes tools aimed at simplifying analytics across various organizational roles.

Databricks AI/BI integrates two main components: Dashboards and Genie. Dashboards offer a low-code, AI-powered platform for creating interactive dashboards. Genie serves as a conversational interface that allows users to ask complex, follow-up questions using natural language. Both systems leverage a compound AI structure that enhances organizational data analysis by learning from interactions, including ETL activities and other data queries.

Ali Ghodsi, Co-founder and CEO of Databricks, stated that AI/BI is designed to handle the unique challenges of business semantics to improve decision-making without traditional BI constraints.

The core of AI/BI is a compound AI system, composed of several AI agents. These agents handle tasks like planning, SQL generation, and data visualization, enhancing reasoning over typical models. This system adapts and improves through continuous user feedback and integrated learning from the Databricks platform data.

Databricks AI/BI operates on a seamless integration with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, ensuring governance, data lineage, and high performance across data sizes without the need for separate BI engine data extraction.

Felix Baker, Head of Data Services at SEGA Europe, shared their use of Databricks AI/BI to facilitate real-time data-driven decisions in their operations, enhancing productivity and decision-making speed.

Databricks AI/BI is available to all Databricks SQL Pro and Serverless users, with AI/BI Dashboards now generally available and Genie in public preview. There are no additional costs beyond existing warehouse compute fees.
